History taking
The client is a housewife with two children. She grew up in Kerala in a middle-class family in a small town. Her father passed away when she was only 2 years old. To support the family, her mother worked as a daily wage laborer. She has one brother and four elder sisters. He dropped out of school in the 10th grade and started working as a mechanic to support the family.
When she was 14 years old, two of her elder sisters eloped with men from other castes. This caused significant humiliation for the family. When the sisters returned later to request a share in the family property, they were ostracized, and the rest of the family stopped speaking to them, excluding them from all family functions. After this no contact with that elder sisters. Due to her sisters’ elopements, her family became very strict with her. Her mother and brother imposed numerous restrictions, such as prohibiting her from speaking to boys and requiring her to wear full-sleeve dresses. She had little freedom to express her opinions or make decisions.
At the age of 12, while in 7th grade, she contracted typhoid and was unable to pass the grade. Her brother then stopped her education, fearing her classmates would tease her about her failure. However, she managed to learn stitching, which allowed her to earn some money before her marriage.
She married at the age of 26 to her husband who was working in Mysuru but from Kerala. Her husband’s family was large, consisting of his parents and 4 brothers. He was the third son. One of his elder brother had left home after marriage and never returned. The brother’s wife and two children lived with them, as it was a joint family.
After marriage, she moved to Mysuru with her husband and occasionally visited her hometown. In the early years, her husband earned well and supported the entire family, including his jobless brothers and especially his brother’s wife and children.
Her husband had a difficult childhood. He had to start working as a blacksmith at a young age after his father prevented him from continuing his education. Despite his hardships, he was a self-taught, skilled blacksmith and a loving husband and father, though he smoked and drank.
She became pregnant at 27, but tragically, her first child passed away in the ninth month due to her high blood pressure caused by sudden fear by seeing something. This incident pushed her into depression. After 1.5 years, she gave birth to a daughter, and three years later, she had another child. They lived peacefully for about 11 years.
Eventually, she and children moved back to Kerala for children education and her husband stayed in Mysuru. By then, all his brothers had secured good jobs, and disputes began to arise within the joint family, as her husband could no longer contribute much financially. They moved into her maternal home for a year but faced conflicts there as well. The family then rented a house, which brought significant financial challenges as her husband’s income remained low. They struggled to support their children education and meet basic needs. Her husband’s father gave them a piece of land, on which they managed to build a small house. Although incomplete, they moved in and settled near her grandfather’s home.
Her eldest daughter was good in studies. At 18, she began tutoring to support the family and enrolled in a software engineering course while pursuing her degree. She eventually moved to Bangalore in 2010 in search of a job and secured one in January 2012, bringing great relief to the family.
Her mother passed away in 2010 and she felt really sad after her mother death.
Her husband passed away in 2012 due to pneumonia and this made her really fearful about the life. She was worried that with two girls how she was going to survive. This was a traumatic event for her and no one supported them financially or emotionally.
After her father’ death, elder daughter took the responsibility of the family as the younger was studying. With her daughter’s help, they managed to buy land and construct a new house. Since her husband’s death, the family has faced unusual challenges. She often feels unwell, experiences bad dreams, and her children face similar issues. Upon consulting an astrologer, they were told that her husband’s brother’s wife (P) has been allegedly practicing black magic against them. This is said to cause job losses, marital difficulties, and recurring health problems to her and children.
The astrologer claimed that this black magic has been ongoing since her marriage and continues to this day. During these times, she feels drained of energy, struggles to sleep, experiences fevers, and has very disturbing dreams. In these dreams, entities often appear to attack her, and her children also report similar experiences. She will go to hospitals and fever will not reduce even after taking tablets.
When the situation worsens and becomes unmanageable, she contact a temple priest for help. The priest performs specific rituals (poojas) to clear the negative energies, which cost between ₹1,000 and ₹3,000 each time. She has consulted multiple astrologers seeking a permanent solution, but they have stated that since P allegedly continues the black magic regularly, the rituals have only a temporary effect.
Now, her elder daughter got married and younger daughter works in Kochi. So, she stays with her younger daughter and visits occasionally elder daughter who stays in Bangalore.
Despite these challenges, she remains a firm believer in God and practices mantra japa (chanting) daily about an 1.5 hours, which provides her some relief and a sense of mental peace. Also she firmly believes that she wants moksha and Krishan is always with her. She reads Bhagavad gita daily which gives her the strength to move forward.

Theme : An extreme fear that something will happen to her children.
T: This is what Therapist said.
C: This is what Client said.
T: Go back to an experience where you felt extremely fearful that something would happen to your children.
C: My elder daughter was traveling alone to Bangalore at night by train. No one was there to accompany her, and I felt so scared that something might happen to her. (She started to cry, and stress management techniques were applied.)
T: Let’s stay in this fearful experience where something might happen to your children and intensify this pain. (Guided her through a countdown: 2x, 5x, 10x).
C: (Started crying)
T: Let’s use this fearful feeling and find out where it might have originated. Imagine a small bridge you are walking on. Don’t worry—you are not alone. I am here with you. Even if nothing comes up, it is fine. As I count down from 10 to 1, let us walk back and find out. (Gave her 5 minutes to process.)
T: Are you on the bridge?
C: Yes, I am on the bridge, walking with my elder daughter.
T: Alright! Let’s walk. I will count from 3 to 1. On the count of 1, you may reach the end of the bridge.
3… 2… 1…
What comes to your awareness?
C: I am at the end of the bridge.
T: Do you see or feel anything?
C: No.
(I sensed that this feeling might not originated from a past event, so I guided her to connect with a spiritual guide.)
T: I will count from 3 to 1. On the count of 1, a master or guide will appear to help you. You can ask them all your questions.
3… 2… 1…
Do you see a master, guide, or someone who can help you to give you answers?
C: Yes, the person (swamiji) who taught me meditation from Sri Sri Ravi Shankar art of living. He is here, wearing a white kurta and smiling at me.
T: Please convey my pranamam to him. Ask him where this fear of something will happen to your children is originated.
C: He says this fear started after my husband’s death. Because we had no one to support us, it created insecurity, which led to this fear.
T: Ask him to help you release the pain and fear you have carried since your husband’s death.
C: I have released it. He says the fear and pain are gone now.
T: Could you please ask him why black magic is affecting you and your children? When did it originate? Does it have anything to do with a past life?
C: No, it originated in this life. He says my brother’s wife is jealous of me and my daughters. She doesn’t have anything—no house, no support and her daughters are jobless. But I have everything: a house and daughters with good jobs. She is jealous that you are happy because of your children and she wanted to destroy my peace and see my daughters jobless.
T: Ask him how you can get rid of this.
C: He says I should pray to God and meditate regularly. Nothing will happen to my kids. God is protecting us. Keep praying.
T: How long will this black magic continue?
C: It will stop within two years (around 1.5 years). These actions are very bad, and their karma will start affecting themselves. They will stop it then.
T: Great! Is there any specific deity we should pray to for help against black magic?
C: You can pray to Sri Ram and Krishna. (She already pray to both.)
T: Good. Do you still carry any fear that something might happen to your children because of black magic?
C: It was there before, but now it is gone.
T: Wonderful! Would you like to ask him anything else? Are all your issues resolved?
C: No, I am done. I got answers to my questions.
T: Please convey our thanks to him for coming and guiding us.
C: Yes, I did.
T: Is he still there?
C: No, he has left.
T: Would you like to return to the garden now?
C: Yes.
I slowly brought her back to the garden, relaxed her for some time, and then guided her back to full awareness.
Post-session pain level was 0
