I first met Rituraj (name changed) through a mutual friend who had been through therapy and spoke highly of the experience. Initially hesitant, he reached out for a consultation, not entirely convinced about therapy, but exhausted from the constant weight of self-doubt, anxiety, and emotional isolation.
During our first meet, I took a traditional talk therapy approach, giving him space to open up at his own pace. He spoke about the deep emptiness he often felt, his struggle to form meaningful relationships, and his relentless need to prove his worth. Despite his success in the IT industry, he felt emotionally disconnected and unfulfilled, as if no achievement was ever enough.
As we delved deeper, I introduced the idea that unresolved karmic patterns and subconscious memories might be influencing his present struggles. Naturally, he was skeptical. Being a logical thinker, he wasnāt sure how much he believed in past lives. But something in him, maybe a mix of curiosity and a desperate need for answers, made him willing to explore the possibility. I reassured him that PLR wasnāt about proving reincarnation, but about uncovering the subconscious emotional imprints shaping his current experiences.
What ultimately convinced him was a simple guided visualization exercise. As I led him into a relaxed state, he unexpectedly experienced a surge of emotions tied to a vivid image, himself, standing alone on a battlefield, overwhelmed by feelings of abandonment and unworthiness. He couldnāt fully explain what he had seen or why it affected him so deeply, but the emotions felt raw and real. That moment was a turning point. It made him realize there might be something deeper at play, something worth exploring.
With that, he agreed to a full PLR session, hoping to finally understand the roots of his emotional isolation and self-worth struggles.

Client History :
Rituraj is fiercely independent and holds himself to high standards, often striving for perfection. However, he struggles with self-worth and finds it hard to let people in. Trust and emotional intimacy donāt come easily to him, making relationships feel unstable and difficult to navigate.
Anxiety and occasional depressive thoughts weigh on him, often leaving him feeling like a burden to others. He avoids confrontation, sometimes at the cost of his own needs, and forming deep connections feels like a challenge. Despite this, he keeps pushing forward, balancing his inner struggles with the demands of everyday life.
Rituraj grew up in a dysfunctional home where emotional neglect and verbal abuse were a daily reality. His father was a strict, emotionally distant, and highly critical man, possibly narcissistic, battling his own demons with alcoholism. Though he never physically hurt Rituraj, his harsh words left deep emotional scars, making Rituraj feel unworthy.
His mother, though loving, was often emotionally unavailable lost in her own sadness, too overwhelmed to be a consistent source of comfort. She showed affection at times, but it was fleeting. His younger sister was favored in the family, creating a sense of distance and further reinforcing the lack of close familial bonds.
From an early age, Rituraj learned to suppress his emotions. He became highly self-sufficient, avoiding conflict and striving for perfection in hopes of earning approval. Books, art, and fantasy became his escape from an environment that offered little emotional warmth. His self-esteem took a hit early on, and he struggled to express his emotions, seeking validation through academics and achievements instead.
In college, he excelled academically but felt socially disconnected. Fear of rejection kept him from forming deep relationships, and the weight of anxiety and depression sometimes pushed him toward self-harm as a way to cope. Trusting others felt impossible, and when he did enter relationships, they were often emotionally toxic or short-lived.
He chose a structured, stable career in IT, an environment where emotions werenāt a priority. Heās hardworking and successful, yet no matter how much he achieves, he never feels like heās good enough. Chronic anxiety and self-doubt follow him everywhere, making him feel like he constantly has to prove himself. But no matter how much he accomplishes, that feeling of āenoughā remains out of reach.
Rituraj finds it difficult to cry, express anger, or show vulnerability, even with close friends. Deep emotional connections scare him because they come with the risk of getting hurt. He struggles with setting boundaries and saying āno,ā often falling into people-pleasing tendencies.
As a clinical psychotherapist, I see clear signs of Overachiever Syndrome, as Rituraj ties his self-worth to his accomplishments but never feels truly satisfied. Unresolved childhood trauma leaves him feeling disconnected from his past, still carrying the emotional weight of a childhood where love felt conditional and security was never guaranteed.
Rituraj feels emotionally stuck, drained, and disconnected from life. He notices a pattern of self-sabotage in his relationships and career, leaving him wondering why he always feels unworthy or invisible. Despite his efforts, he still struggles to form genuine emotional connections. Recurring anxiety and depressive episodes make it even harder. Seeking clarity and healing, he turns to Past Life Regression (PLR) therapy, hoping to understand the deeper reasons behind these challenges.
The theme of Riturajās PLR could be around
āUnresolved Emotional Burdens and Self-Worth Across Lifetimes.ā
And the possible theme for exploration can be :-
"Karmic Patterns of Emotional Isolation "
Stage 1 to stage 5 were done .
Pre-briefing was done and Rituraj responded well with most of the questions and was accepting most of the timeā¦

Session 3 :- 26/1/25
Dave Elman, Progressive relaxation, ball of light, staircase, garden
T: This garden holds the door to your past. Somewhere ahead, you see an opening. Trust your intuition and move towards it.
Behind this doorway lies a memory from another time, another placeā¦ a life you have lived before. Imagine yourself drifting, floating weightlessly through time. You are safe, guided by your soulās wisdom. As I count down from 5 to 1, your mind will take you to a life that holds the answers you seek.
When you arrive, simply describe what you see.
T: 5ā¦4ā¦3ā¦2ā¦and 1ā¦
The clientās breathing deepens.
C:(whispers)
I am seeingā¦ dirt. A roadā¦very dusty. My feetā¦ is bare. Iām smallā¦ a child.
T: Look around. What else do you see?
C: (swallows)
Housesā¦ but not like now. Simple. Wooden. The air is dry, warmā¦ this place feels very old. Likeā¦
T: which era or the year it is?
C: looks like ā¦1700s
T:Good. Trust what comes to you.
Who are you, and what is your age?
C: A boyā¦ 8 or 9yrs. My clothes are roughā¦ worn-out. My body is thin. I feelā¦I am hungry.
T: Where is your family?
C: (long silence, voice shaking)
I donāt have one.
T: Tell me more.
C: (voice thick with emotion)
Iām alone. I donāt remember my mother, fatherā¦ I think they died or have abandoned me. I donāt know. I just knowā¦ no one wants me.
T: What do you believe about yourself in this life?
C: ā¦Iām nothingā¦ and I donāt matter.
People pass by, they look at me, but no one is helping. They ignore meā¦I beg for food sometimesā¦ they push me away. I feelā¦small and invisible.
T: As you continue breathing slowly, let yourself move to a significant moment in this lifeā¦ a moment that stands out. 5ā¦4ā¦3ā¦2ā¦1ā¦
What is happening?
C: (pauses, voice trembling) Iām a childā¦ maybe 5 or 6. Iām sitting on the ground, near a busy marketā¦People are rushing by. No one looks at me. Iā¦ I hold out my hand, hoping someone will give me something to eat.
T: What happens next?
C: A man stopsā¦he reaches into his pocketā¦ he pulls out a coin and throws it near my feet, not in my handā¦ Like Iām dirtyā¦ I donāt deserve to be touched.
T: How does that make you feel?
C: (voice cracks) Worthlessā¦makes me feel Iām not even human. I want to cryā¦ I just take the coin and buy roti.
T: (gently) if you may be willing letās move againā¦ to another significant moment in this life with a count from 5 to 1
5ā¦4ā¦3ā¦2ā¦1ā¦
Where are you ?
C: (voice weak) Iām sick. My body feels heavy. My head burnsā¦ my body is coldā¦ I am sitting outside a temple. I thinkā¦ someone will help me here.
T: Does anyone help?
C: (silence) ā¦A woman looks at me. She hesitatesā¦ then walks past. An old man is muttering something about karma. No one stopsā¦ No one helps.
T: What do you do?
C: My stomach hurtsā¦and Iām too tired to care. Iā¦ I just want to sleep.
T: Do you get to sleep then?
C: I close my eyesā¦ and I whisper to myselfā¦ āMaybe in the next life, Iāll be loved.ā
T: (softly) And then?
C: I sleepā¦I dieā¦aloneā¦ no one notices. No one remembersā¦and I never wake up.
T: oh !..As you leave this life, look from above.
What did your soul carry from this experience?
C: (teary)ā¦ That I donāt belongā¦ Iām not worth lovingā¦ people will always turn me away.
T: do you recognize this belief in your present life?
C: (nods slowly)
Yes. It feelsā¦ the same.
T: let us release this feelingā¦ this is one life and one experience. It is not who you areā¦ You are more than this experienceā¦
Take a deep breathā¦n let it goā¦ Slowlyā¦release itā¦
T : Now as you leave this life and is in a space beyond time, beyond pain. Look around.
What do you see?
C : Itāsā¦ light itās not harshā¦itās warm light.
T: Good. Just let yourself be in this placeā¦
(silence)ā¦
Do you feel alone?
C: ( silence)ā¦
Noā¦ I feelā¦ surroundedā¦ by someā¦ presence. They are familiar, as if they know me.
T: Beautifulā¦ may be souls who have known you beforeā¦ may be guides, or your loved ones.
Do you sense anyone you recognize?
C:(teary) Yesā¦ I feel someone very close. but I canāt see their facesā¦ I just know them.
T: itās okay to feel that wayā¦continue to feel their presence.
What do they want to tell you?
C: that I am never aloneā¦
T: How does it feel to hear that?
C: (long silence)ā¦
T: take a deep breathā¦inhale and exhale slowlyā¦very slowlyā¦
C: (takes deep breath)
Itā¦ itās like I can breathe againā¦ a weight, I donāt know I carried is lifting.
T: Goodā¦Just stay with that feeling and let it fill youā¦(long pause)ā¦
Now, in this place of knowingā¦
why did you live that life? Why did you feel so unloved?
C: (silence)ā¦to understand what itās likeā¦to learnā¦ the depth of it. So I can help others.
T: Ahā¦ a soul lesson.
Do you see now that you were not abandoned?
C: Yes. It was justā¦ part of what I choseā¦But I forgot.
T:Thatās rightā¦
what do your guides want you to carry with you from this life?
C: ( smile)ā¦
That I am lovedā¦ I belongā¦ I was never truly alone.
T: Beautifulā¦ Hold onto that truth. Let it sink deep into your beingā¦just rest in this loveā¦
(Long silenceā¦)
Now with a count from 5 to 1, if you may be willing, letās drift into another lifetime experience
C: hmmā¦yeahā¦
T: Take a deep breath and relaxā¦
ā¦there is another life that holds more answers for youā¦
5ā¦4ā¦3ā¦2ā¦and 1ā¦
Now, as you go deeper, you find yourself in another time, another place. Look aroundā¦

[Nagor was a significant strategic town and fort in Rajasthan, controlled at different times by the Rajputs, the Delhi Sultanate, and later the Mughals ].
T: Very goodā¦ letās move deeper into this memory. A number may come to you, or you may sense the time period.
What year is it?
C: I thinkā¦ itās 1352ā¦ or something around that time.
T: Thatās great. Just allow the details to come naturally.
Does anything else about this time feel familiar?
C: Iā¦I feel trappedā¦
T: Trapped? Why?
C: Iām standing in a hall. Thereās a manā¦I feel he is my father. Heās tall, dressed in black. His faceā¦ cold, Stern. Heās talking to another man. I thinkā¦ Iām being given away.
T: Given away?
C: yesā¦ for marriage. I have no choice. No one asks what I want. Iām justā¦ a transaction. A way to gain power, wealth. My feelings donāt matter.
T: How does that make you feel?
C: (voice quivers)
feels like Iām nothingā¦ Iām just an object. My father never looked at me with love. Only dutyā¦I can be anyone, and it doesnāt matter. I am never enough as a daughterā¦only useful as a tool.
T: And what happens after this?
C: (silence)ā¦ I marry him. An older man. Coldā¦distantā¦ like my father. My life is emptyā¦I do my duty. I smile when I should. I bear children. But no one ever sees me. No one ever loves me.
T: with a count from 5 to 1 you are now moving into a significant moment in this lifeā¦a moment of importance.
What do you see?
C: (pauses, breathing deeply)
Iā¦ I am much younger now. Maybe in my thirties. The sun is setting. I am standing by a riverā¦ waiting.
T: Waiting for what?
C: (hesitates) Someone importantā¦Someone I loveā¦
T: Who is it?
C: (voice trembling) A manā¦ his eyes are filled with sorrow. He is leaving. He says it is his duty. He cannot stayā¦ even though he loves me.
T: How do you feel in this moment?
C: (deep sigh) My heart achesā¦ but I understand. He belongs to the path he has chosen. I cannot hold him back.
T: What do you say to him?
C: (whispering)
āGoā¦ follow your calling."
T: And how does he respond?
C: (smiling sadly) He holds my handsā¦no words. Just a promise in his eyesā¦ that we will meet again. Somewhere, in some lifetime.
T: What do you learn from this moment?
C: That love is not about possessionā¦ true love lets goā¦ and trusts the universe.
(A long pauseā¦ I allow Rituraj to absorb the lesson before guiding him to another momentā¦as this moment adds depth to the lifeās journey, showing how love, loss and acceptance play a role in shaping the soulās wisdom )
T: You have carried this love across lifetimes. Now, I want you to move forwardā¦ to the present life. Is this soul with you now?
C: (silenceā¦breathing deeply) I see a familiar lightā¦ itās himā¦ but he look different.
T: Who is he in your current life?
C: Itāsā¦ someone I know. Not in the same way, not as a loverā¦ but he is here.
T: How does he appear in your life now?
C: my only friend, Rajatā¦always guides meā¦but, I am fearfulā¦
T: fearful of what?
C: trustā¦coz this comes with a risk of loosingā¦but, now I feel the connection, the same deep understanding. But the roles are different this time.
T: What is the purpose of your connection in this life?
C: To support each otherā¦ to help each other growā¦ love is there, but it is not meant to be romantic this time. It is a love beyond attachment. A love that simply exists.
T: How does this realization make you feel?
C: (deep exhale) may be ā¦at peace. I feel I donāt need to search anymore. The soul I loved has always been near, just in a different form.
(A long silence)
[ This beautifully illustrates how soul connections transcend lifetimes, sometimes appearing in different roles but always carrying the same love. ]
T: take a deep breadth and exhale slowlyā¦and now with a count from 5 to 1, we will move into the last day of this lifeā¦
5ā¦4ā¦3ā¦2ā¦1ā¦
What do you see now?
C: (breathing deeply) Iā¦ I am older now. My hands are wrinkled. Thereās this golden light around meā¦ but my body feels weak. Itās almost timeā¦
T: can you describe the scene around you? Who is with you?
C: (pauses, voice trembling) A young womanā¦ I feel she is my daughter. She holds my hand. There is so much love in her eyes. She doesnāt want to let me goā¦ I smile at her.
T: What do you want to tell her?
C: (softly) That love never diesā¦ I will always be with her. (Tears roll down) I tell her to live with courage, to trust herself, to remember that she is never alone.
T: What happens next?
C: Thereās a presenceā¦ I can feel it! A beautiful, luminous being is here. So much loveā¦ so much peaceā¦
T: Who is it?
C: (voice filled with awe) A divine soulā¦ It is not just light, it is love itselfā¦ Pure loveā¦
have come to take me home.
T: What do they say?
C: (silence, then speaks in a serene tone) āYou have done well, child. Your journey has been one of service and love. It is time to rest, to return to the light.ā
T: How do you feel as you hear this?
C: (smiling through tears) I am readyā¦at peaceā¦ I let goā¦ I am floatingā¦ I feel so lightā¦
T: do they have any message for me, as a therapist?
C: (pauses, as if listening)ā¦
āYour role is sacred. You are a bridge between worlds, a guide for lost heartsā¦ Trust your giftā¦ Do not doubt your power of healing through love.ā
T: I express my gratitude to themā:pray:ā¦
(Long silenceā¦I want Rituraj to fully experience the transition.)
T: What do you feel in your final moments?
C: (whispers) Regretā¦ Emptinessā¦
feels like I never lived for myselfā¦ I was never important, not as a child, not as a wife, not as a mother. I was justā¦ there.
T: As you drift beyond, tell meā¦ what do you see? Where are you?
C: ā¦ vastā¦ Open spaceā¦ not empty. Thereās light everywhereā¦ and peace. It feels likeā¦ home.
T: Beautifulā¦ Let yourself settle into this space. Do you sense anyone around you?
C:(silence)ā¦
Yesā¦there areā¦ beings. I canāt see them clearly, but I can feel them. They are waiting for me.
T: Who are they?
C: (teary)
They feel likeā¦ family. But not from my last life. From beyondā¦ They know me. They love me.
T: Good. Allow yourself to connect with them. Do they have a message for you?
C:yeahā¦they say āYou are not lost.ā
T: How does it feel to hear that?
C: (deep breath)ā¦
itās like warmth spreading through meā¦ something inside me is waking up.
T: Beautiful.
Now, as you stand in this space, you may if you are comfortable, look back at the life you just left.
What was the purpose of this life?
C: (silenceā¦)
I feel itās to understand painā¦life thatās quietā¦life that no one notices. I was meant to feel itā¦ deeply.
T: Why?
C: So that I can heal itā¦ in myself, and in others.
T: Ahā¦ a lesson of the soulā¦
do you see now that you were never truly abandoned?
C: Yesā¦ But I forgot. I let the pain become my truth.
T: Thatās understandable.
Do you, in this place of knowing, see your true self beyond the pain?
C:( smile)ā¦ Yes. I am not just that life. I amā¦ more. I have always been more.
T: Thatās rightā¦
looking ahead what happens next?
Do you meet anyone?
C:(pauseā¦)
A councilā¦ wise beings. They are soā¦ radiantā¦powerfulā¦they are here to help me understand loveā¦
T: Ahaā¦ What do they tell you?
C: That I carried this wound for lifetimesā¦ and I believed I am unworthyā¦ unloved. But it is never true.
T:Did they show you where this belief began?
C: (nods, tears droolingā¦)
A very old lifeā¦ I was abandoned as a child. I died alone. This belief stayed with me. It followed me, again and again.
T: do you still believe it?
C: (deep breathā¦) Noā¦ this is only an experienceā¦ Not who I am.
T:Thatās rightā¦
And as you prepare for your next journey, what do your Guides want you to carry forward?
C: (smiles )
That I am lovedā¦ I belongā¦ I am here to heal, not just suffer.
T: Beautifulā¦
Hold onto that truth and let it sink deep into your being.
(Long pause and deeep breathing)
T: with a count from 1 to 5, when you feel ready, you may return to the present, bringing this wisdom with youā¦
you will awaken, lighter, freer, and whole.
1ā¦ feeling the love surrounding youā¦ 2ā¦ remembering your true essenceā¦ 3ā¦ bringing this wisdom back with youā¦ 4ā¦ feeling peaceful and readyā¦ 5ā¦ eyes open, fully present.
C:(smiles through tears)
T: Welcome backā¦
Your healing has already begun.
Session 4
Integration & Reflection
We both were quiet, as the the energy from the deep regression session lingersā¦
I offered him a nice brewed coffeeā¦a relaxant for him [ he loves hot brewed coffee ]ā¦
We both sat to talk on the experience post sessionā¦ his eyes wide open, expressing a mixture of peace and contemplationā¦
T: Riturajā¦How are you feeling?
C: (Takes a deep breath)
Different. Lighter, but alsoā¦ emotional. Seems Iāve been carrying something for so long, and I just put it down.
T: Thatās a powerful realization.
What feels different?
C: I thinkā¦ I donāt feel alone now.
T: Thatās a huge shift.
After all these years of believing you were invisible or abandonedā¦
what has changed?
C: I saw where it all came from. The little boy in the market, begging for food, feeling like he didnāt matterā¦ that was me. And Mehrunisa being married off, feeling like she was just a pawn, never truly seenā¦ that too was me. And I carried these same feelings in this life too without realizing.
T: Yes. These past-life wounds shaped the way you saw yourself in this life.
C: yes now I seeā¦ I wasnāt abandoned. I wasnāt forgotten. It was justā¦ an experience. A painful one, but not my whole truth.
T: Thatās right. The pain is real, but it isnāt your identity. And now that you know this, what do you want to do with it?
C: (Pauses n thinking)
I think I need to stop running from love. Iāve kept people at a distance because I am scared of they leaving me, just like beforeā¦ now I see love has always been there in different forms.
T: Like Rajat?
C: (Smiles softly) Yes. I never realized it, heās always been there, in some way or another. Now I know why it wasnāt about romance, it was about support, a connection that goes beyond this life.
T: does that make you feel less scary?
C: Maybe yesā¦ I think I just need to trust that love doesnāt always have to hurt.
T: Beautifulā¦ what about yourself, Rituraj? How can you show yourself the love youāve been seeking?
C: By being kinder to myselfā¦ and not measuring my worth by my achievements. Allowing myself to rest and stop the endless chase for validation.
T: Thatās powerful.
Youāve already spent lifetimes believing to prove your worthā¦ what do you know now?
C: (Whispers) That I am enoughā¦
T: Yes. You have always beenā¦
If you could go back and speak to that little boy in the market, what would you say to him?
C: (Eyes well up) Iād tell himā¦ āYou matter. You is not invisible. You is always loved.ā
T: And what about Mehrunisa? That young girl who felt like just a pawn?
C: (Softly)
āYou is more than a daughter, a wife, a mother. You is a soulā¦whole and complete.ā
T: now, say to yourselfā¦
āI am enoughā¦ I belongā¦ I am loved.ā
C: (Closes eyes, takes a deep breath) and repeat the same.
[ there is a long silenceā¦ may be a shift in energyā¦]
T: How do you feel saying that?
C: Realā¦ I finally believe it.
T: Thatās all that matters. This healing will keep unfolding in the days to come. Just be gentle with yourself. When old fears resurface, remind yourself of what youāve learned today.
C: (Smiles) I will. This time, I will not forget.
T: Good. Because healing isnāt about erasing the past, itās about remembering who you truly isā¦
ā¦a new chapter has begunā¦
Suggestions
- Rituraj is advised to journal his realizations and emotions on daily basis.
- He should use phrases like
- āI am worthy,ā
- āI am enough,ā
- āI am lovedā more often to reinforce his new beliefs.
- He should gradually open up to safe relationships and embrace vulnerability without fear.
- Being kind to himself, take rest, and break free from overachieving tendencies.
- Reconnect with the peace and presence he felt during the session.
ā¦ Rituraj has begun the journey of rewriting his story, and that is where true healing begins
