REALITY IS NOT REAL …!
Just as I opened my mail today to send you a gentle reminder as suggested by you; I found the Forum Summary wherein you have suggested a movie on Quantum Physics. This was like God sent for me bcoz I had wanted to respond using quantum physics on the subject of Consciousness posted by a group member. Your movie suggestion gave me the perfect setting to respond. I guess I understand QP a shade better than I understand PLR and other allied topics that are discussed in our forum. Frankly I am convinced, I hardly know about PLR when compared to the professionals in this group.
I didn’t rather couldn’t respond earlier on the subject of Consciousness bcoz
The answer is very simple. But I could not figure out how to make my response look better than our day-to-day mundane understanding i.e. intellectually informative.
I have not seen the movie and probably will not. I’d rather watch a James Bond or our very own Rajnikant starrer; wherein nobody knows, nor can determine what the hero will do, or when and how he’ll do it. This is the Uncertainty Principle for the layman.
I’d say to understand the movie it’d be necessary that you know,
whatever we experience or understand in our day-to-day life is scientifically explained by the core concept of local realism. There are two assumptions about the universe together known as Local Realism.
Locality: An object can only be influenced by its immediate surroundings, and no influence can travel faster than the speed of light.
Realism: Physical properties exist (always) with definite values independent of whether they are measured/observed.
Now, whenever these aforesaid assumptions get violated, you hit a dead end & nature cannot be explained.
Therefore, to understand the universe either one of the above assumptions i.e.
Realism (particle does not exist until measured/observed)
Or
Locality (Particles influence each other beyond their immediate surroundings i.e over vast distances measured with speed of light) should be false.

In quantum mechanics, the term “observation” refers to a physical interaction or measurement, not necessarily conscious awareness by a human observer. - The point / moment of measurement or human consciousness would freeze the moment of interaction and the particle comes into existence.
Thus, I can stick my neck out and say the movie on QP cannot be anything beyond the assumptions and their violation. Or anything that is in between the assumptions and their violations.
Quantum physics is exposing “our limited grossified intelligence” … I have borrowed your statement bcoz nothing else would convey my thoughts better. Furthermore, I fully agree when you say, “the cosmos is too ginormous for the human mind but what we can understand from it is, that It has thought through everything like a well written program.” And I’d add, We, the self-acclaimed intellectuals still do not have the complete code.
Thus, till such time that we are engrossed in Maya and happily content with our mundane day to day affairs and collections (obscene) beyond our needs a make belief Reality is what the classical assumptions offer us.
But, as soon as you step up onto a plane higher than the mundane bcoz you now have this itchy desire to find out who you are, what is Soul and Consciousness etc. you realize, REALITY IS NOT REAL !
bcoz in the quantum world, there is “violation” of the assumptions called Local Realism. Borrowing from the principles of quantum mechanics I’d say that,
CONSCIOUSNESS IS WHAT YOU PERCEIVE / SEE AT ANY MOMENT IN TIME. Coming into existence at the point / time of observation.
In our day-to-day affairs we are used to dealing with limited choices & options. Our experiences & behaviour are binary in nature viz. Black & White, True or False etc. the output/ result is always certain and determinable.
But on the higher plane when you step up to talk about Consciousness, soul etc. then the frame changes from binary to multidimensional. Here there is only probability nothing specifically is in existence.
The universe becomes like a big magic box of the magician. Until the box is opened there are only probabilities and possibilities about the contents of the magician’s box. Nothing other than the box is in existence. The magician could pull out a rabbit or a pigeon, a hat, a balloon or some delicious eatables, anything …
But, let’s say the magician pulls out a beautiful scantily clad damsel.
Until the box was closed, the damsel was not in existence; she was just a probability, she came into existence when the box was opened. This simultaneous state of existence and not existing at the same time, is not our day to day experience.
Another example: We all know a coin has 2 sides H & T. When you flip it there is a certainty about any one of the two outcomes when it lands. Therefore, when you observe (measure the event), it is either a H or a T it is never both together.
But the same coin when you have flipped it and it is spinning in air; there is an uncertainty whether you are seeing a H or a T; The H / T is nonexistent or rather both exist together. Thus,
CONSCIOUSNESS IS SIMPLY WHAT YOU PERCIEVE / SEE AT ANY MOMENT IN TIME. i.e. at the moment of interaction (measurement) when you are chasing probabilities.
Similarly, REALITY IS NOT REAL. Can also be explained.
We all believe or rather have been made to believe or are conscious of the fact that the Sun rises in the East and sets in the West. Even an uneducated individual will give you this gyan. But the fact is, this is not REAL.
Consider the motion of the Earth in its orbit and on its axis; the Sun rising in the East becomes unreal.
There is a quote attributed to Einstein; during one of his interactions he asked,
“Do you really believe the moon is not there when you are not seeing it ?”
Thus, you’ll appreciate and agree reality is not real.
So without determining what is real how can one hold forth on consciousness?
Maya like the magician’s box is real, it exists. But we indulge in Maya chasing probabilities and at different times believing different things, situation, people etc to be real and then wallow in misery. If you have read thus far and still interested then,

By the way, the 2022 Nobel prize was for letting us know Reality is not Real.

The stuff above may or may not make sense.to the reader. In the latter case, spend some me too time and enjoy the movie. But be kind and let the group know if the movie had any argument / logic that was contrary to assumption of local realism and its violation.
Actually, the mathematics of QM sometimes is boring. But a discussion in the company of a knowledgeable master about its connection with spirituality and matters connected to higher consciousness is very interesting and blissful.
But, frankly all the above notwithstanding and academics apart; I have always wondered, Why bother, if Life itself is uncertain and unpredictable?
N.B.: All that is stated above is not my original work; the ideas and examples are what my teachers, seniors & others gave during our discussions. I have not conducted any experiments. I am just sharing my learning rather understanding and there is a good possibility from amongst the existing probabilities all that is said above is contrary to the subject.
