If the client is not deeply relaxing due to some reasons like fear about something or someone in the present life what to do?
Good question @Thirupurasundari…
This is actually a very common situation in regression and in my experience it is rarely about the technique or induction quality.
When a client is not relaxing deeply due to present-life fear, it usually means the nervous system is not feeling safe enough to surrender control. Regression cannot happen in the absence of safety.
In such cases, I personally do not try to “push depth” or insist on continuing…. instead, I try shifting the intention of the session from exploration to regulation.
I usually start by acknowledging their fear gently without analysing it too much.
Just giving emotional permission like…
“It’s okay if your mind is not ready today. We will go at your pace.”
This reduces resistance significantly.
Then I move towards stabilisation work… Grounding through long deep breaths and body awareness
Safe place visualisation
Inner child soothing if emotional vulnerability is sensed
Present-life emotional processing if any
Gentle parts-based dialogue if fear feels protective.
Many times, what appears as “not relaxing” is actually subconscious protection. The psyche is saying that some present-life emotional layer needs containment before deeper subconscious material emerge.
In my practice, some of the best regression sessions have happened only after 2–3 preparatory sessions where no past life content came. ![]()

These sessions were not failures, they were trust-building phases.![]()

So I feel the key is to prioritise
Safety first…then Regulation…then build Trust…and then Regression
If the nervous system is settled, trance follows naturally. But if fear is present, regression should not be the immediate goal.
Sometimes therapy is not about taking the client deeper into the past..… it’s about helping them feel safe enough in the present.
Further to what our blessed Supu has written
The question we have to ask ourselves as therapists is “Am I able to go into the trance at will, which I’d like my client to follow.”
Hence the importance of due diligence, being a master of being able to do even small things greatly. Which is why I’m so pedantic that we have to walk our talk. This is a sacred science which demands discipline and everything we do should reflect that.
Absolutely agree, with you sir ![]()
Walking the talk truly shifts everything and when we embody the trance, the client naturally entrains.
This sacred work really begins with our own inner discipline.
So much more to learn from you…
Thanks for all the support ![]()
