5 Joys/Pleasures (५ सुख) that everybody desires.

The trigger for this post was the Forum Meet; wherein, Junto Wheel was discussed/mentioned in the context of determining the theme.

For some time now, I have been toying with this thought (in abstract terms) and testing its applicability (in my sessions) to arrive at and decide the theme.

Therefore, after the abovementioned meet I chose to structure it and give it a body. The reader, may test its applicability and see if it makes a difference. If not, then, surely (s)he can be kind enough to punch holes in my hypothesis. - That’d aid my learning.

[Apples surely were falling to the ground; even before Newton was born. But he chose (not to simply eat) to question WHY?

Similarly, the well-read, spiritually advanced members of this forum probably know (much more) about the subject of my post. But I have chosen to apply this limited knowledge.]

Many thanks in advance before you read on…:folded_hands:

Now,

All the pleasures/joy that ‘any and every’ living creature ‘seeks and desires’ can broadly be categorised under the below mentioned 5 basic fundamental categories; i.e. Health, Knowledge, Strength, Love and Bliss (Contentment)

1. Swasth (Health) - Freedom from disease/illness. Physical, Mental &
social well-being.

Medicines don’t give you Health.

2. Gnan (K’ledge) - Freedom from fear/ignorance

Books don’t give you Knowledge.

3. Shakti (Strength) - Freedom from inactivity/laziness/lethargy/Slothfulness.

Food does not give you Strength.

4. Prem (S’less Love) - Freedom from attachment/bereavement. Being Detached.

Relationships don’t give you Love.

5. Anand (Bliss/Fun) - Freedom from doubts/greed/jealousy/worries.

Attachments (Ownership) do not give Bliss.

The reader will appreciate, we are miserable bcoz we are seeking our pleasure / joy in the wrong things. For example, Love in myriad relationships.

Thus, the above written is my crude ‘junto wheel’.

During my conversations/history taking; I, diligently & with all prudence, try to identify the deficiencies/excess in one or more of the above 5.

Any Deficiency/Excess would create an imbalance and this imbalance over a period of time, erupts as and or, is reflected as a problem (Mental and or Physical) in life.

The yearning for any one (or more) of the abovementioned ‘5 pleasures’ could be the result of our karmic debt contracts (dishonored) from past life (lives). Or, maybe an unintentional/unwitting creation of a new contract (gone awry) as we traverse through this life time.

Thus, the theme would be …..

the issue related to one of the above 5 joys & connected to the contract (karmic).

  • It could be an issue that created a breach of contract.
  • Or, the desire for a fresh new contract.

But,

All the above notwithstanding, More often than not, I heavily rely on my intution (aided by my exp’nce/kno’dge) to chart the course for my session.:face_savoring_food:  :joy:

My musing and writings on this issue do not come from the groves of academe. Herbert S. White.

@Vagabond Your wheel in not ‘Crude wheel’ it’s ’clearer wheel’ it removes the layers of illusion and shows that we don’t lack joy, we lack the wisdom of recognising it. Real joy is freedom/detachment not accumulation.

Intuition is my superpower  since forever. It’s like your subconscious doing the work for you.

When life is the guru, academe becomes optional.

A mahatma of your caliber can do anything mediocre.
Thanks a billion for taking the time to share this with us my beloved Atul, @Vagabond

All my life experience has brought me to this.

Call me a fanatic but books gave me everything so if you could reword this to something like Instagram/Whatsapp/Newspaper  that would give me some solace

And in summary when we look at Love*, doesn’t it so beautifully become the hub of all these 5 spokes isn’t it!

*wanted to add “Divine Love” but then, Love is love isn’t it, in what ever form, so couldn’t… but that is what it implies

Thanks for the acknowledgment. But please be kind and clarify if it is you or it is your keyboard that has given me the backhanded compliment for mediocrity:joy::rofl::rofl::joy:

To my mind Books only give you information & not Knowledge. Thus, books are no different from WA, Insta and other media in terms of dispensing information

How Information is used, or to be used is knowledge.

Hey @Vagabond ji, all these Health, Knowledge, Strength, Love and Bliss are the inmates of our own mind. Here you have mentioned in the context of body consciousness only and all are vrittis.

Health be it mental or physical it’s meant for body and brain. For instance, your favourite phone battery is not keeping up no matter how many times you charge it. What will tell to people " my phone’s energy resorvoir which consist of one or more elctrochemical cells capable of driving energy flow thru reaction is not giving full potential", or just “My battery health is poor”.

H – Happiness
E – Energy
A – Alertness
L – Longevity
T – Tranquility
H – Harmony

When everything is in equilibrium only we have health. Let’s say, you have make a call with your phone , and infront of you is a disassembled phone. Will you make call using the disassembled phone? Or do you assemble it and use !
Similarly when all aspects in a human form is required for a balanced life for living, then we call (s)he is healthy.

How does health become a pleasure or joy ? Health is a state (of mind)
Medicine only restores the body and so the body becomes healthy.

Bliss is not fun

B – Boundless
L – Love
I – Inner
S – Stillness
S – Serenity , it is when you are experiencing absolute silence in nothingness. Thought of freedom itself is a vritti.
Chitānanda means:
“Bliss of Pure Consciousness”
or
“Consciousness that is Bliss itself”
Its the absolute pure awareness of truth.
Above one is just one form of bliss.

Knowledge

K – Knowing
N – Non-dual
O – One
W – Witnessing
L – Light of
E – Eternal
D – Divine
G – Grace and
E – Enlightenment

When the perceiver and the perceived object is one, that’s the njaana. Knowing that knowledge and knower is one is the actual knowledge.
Be it you read :books: /listen :ear:t2:/ observe :eyes:/ write :writing_hand:t2: through any channels, you are just perceived it, it becomes knowledge only when you self experience it through implementation or experiments.

When we were child, people used to tell “Don’t touch the fire” antaha do you know what fire :fire: is and how it feels like when you touch it , nope. Only when you try to catch or touch it playfully or not , you sensed the  of fire. Then you got realize fire is hot, now this is true knowledge.

When I went into PLR trance, my therapist sometimes question regarding Guru, like will there be a Guru or is my current Guru is the right one. What I got the answer from the absolute voidness was, your own understanding and experiences are the true Guru, Physical Guru is just to show the path. This reminds me of my dear @venu sir PLRT session on me, in that I saw Lord Buddha and he said when time comes I follow his path. Hope @venu ji remembers. This is what exactly it meant. Guru comes to us when we are ready and moreover they are the actual Messiah or descendants of the Supreme source of consciousness or light.

In Spiritual essence, Knowledge is the realization of the One Consciousness that eternally witnesses all experiences.
In one Vedāntic line
Knowledge = Self-realization (Ātma-jñāna)
It removes ignorance and reveals Sat–Chit–Ānanda. Once you get Ātma-jñāna then you get Bliss . In order to get Bliss you need Health.

Strength

S – Stability
T – Truth
R – Resilience
E – Endurance
N – Non-attachment
G – Grace
T – Trust (in the Self)
H – Harmony

True strength is inner stability rooted in truth and sustained by grace.

Strength (Bala) is not just physical power, but:

firmness of mind

clarity of intellect

steadiness of awareness

“Ātma-balaṃ vidyate param” — The strength of the Self is supreme..

Hence if you want to achieve bliss , you need strength firmness of mind and steadiness of heart and intellect. Health only give the strength.

Love
L – Loss of
O – Otherness
V – Vision of
E – Eternity

Love is the disappearance of the sense of “other.”

That’s why love should be unconditional and in detachment.

“Ātmanaḥ kāmāya sarvaṃ priyaṃ bhavati”
— Everything is loved for the sake of the Self

When we have unconditional love to all animate and non animate things, we develop oneness consciousness. Through oneness consciousness we attain bliss.

All love is Self-love, because the Self alone is real. Just like All hypnosis is Self-hypnosis, because the Self alone is real.
In Bhakti yoga: love is
L – Longing for
O – One
V – Vision of the
E – Eternal (Lord)

Love is an intense longing to behold and serve the Eternal Divine.

Love is surrender (śaraṇāgati)
It is expressed through devotion, remembrance, and service
The lover and the Beloved remain distinct, yet united by grace.

Now visualise infinite number of below :backhand_index_pointing_down:t2: image in a system, that builds a uniform body which can be called as human, worm, or any inanimate things. For the time being we can call this little star as Shakti.

Then,

ॐ श्री गुरुभ्यो नमः। :folded_hands:t2::folded_hands:t2::folded_hands:t2:
