When Healing Stops Feeling Like Work… and Becomes Something Else
There is a phase in healing that nobody really prepares us for.
Because nothing dramatic happens.
Our life does not suddenly become perfect. Our relationships are still the same. Responsibilities haven’t disappeared.
And yet… something inside us feels different.
Quieter.
Softer.
More spacious.
I remember a client once telling me,
Ma’am, nothing has changed in my life….. but why do I feel lighter?
I smiled….. because this is exactly that phase. The outer life may look the same. But the way we are meeting our life… has changed.
Earlier, life felt like something we had to constantly manage.
Our thoughts pulled us in.
Our emotions overwhelmed us.
Our reactions felt automatic.
But now….. something new starts happening.
We notice…we notice our irritation rising….. but we don’t immediately react.
We notice anxiety in our chest….. but we don’t become it.
It’s like we are sitting slightly behind ourself…..watching.
And in this tiny gap..… something powerful is born…Choice.
Let me give you a very simple example.
A husband says something insensitive.
Earlier we would react instantly. Maybe argue, shut down or overthink for hours.
But now?
We still feel hurt…that has not disappeared, but there is a pause.
A moment where something inside us says
“Okay… I feel this. But I don’t have to react immediately.”
This pause..… is not small.
This pause is healing turning into awakening.
One of the most freeing moments is when we realise…we are not our patterns…
When we genuinely experience
“I feel anxious… but I am not anxiety.”
“I feel anger… but I am not anger.”
Earlier, emotions used to define us.
Now, they just pass through us.
Like weather… sometimes intense….. but no longer permanent.
And this does not disconnect us from life.
It actually connects us more deeply, because we are no longer lost inside every emotion.
We stop trying so hard.
Earlier, healing felt like effort.
Trying to control thoughts.
Trying to fix ourself.
Trying to “be better”.
But now…
We are not trying as much.
And yet we are changing more.
Because awareness has replaced effort.
And what we can see clearly…..is that we don’t need to fight anymore.
Our body also starts healing
(Without we forcing It)
Many people don’t realise this part.
But I see it so often in sessions.
Clients say things like…
“Ma’am, I am sleeping better.”
“My chest doesn’t feel as tight.”
“I don’t feel that constant tension anymore.”
Nothing outside has drastically changed.
But inside?..
The nervous system is finally feeling..…safe.
Not because life is perfect, but because we are no longer constantly fighting life.
And then….. there are moments.
Very ordinary moments…
Sitting with tea.
Watching the sky.
Doing nothing.
And suddenly…..
There is no rush. No lack. No urgency.
Just a quiet feeling of…
“This… is enough.”
It doesn’t last forever, but once we feel it…..we can never fully forget it.
There is another big shift.
Earlier, our mind was full of questions…
Why am I like this?
How do I fix this?
When will I change?
Now…
These questions start fading.
Not because everything is perfect.
But because we are no longer trying to fix ourself like a problem.
We are understanding ourself like a human.
And this changes everything.
This Is Where Healing Becomes Awakening
At this stage, healing is no longer just about:
Reducing anxiety
Fixing relationships
Managing emotions
It becomes about
Being aware
Being present
Being connected..… to ourself
We start observing life..… instead of constantly reacting to it.
And this observation itself begins to transform us.
At this point, many people say…
“I wish I had understood this earlier…”
But I tell them…No.
You are not late.
You couldn’t have understood this earlier.
Because you needed all those experiences to arrive here.
Nothing is wasted.
If you are reading this….. pause for a moment n ask yourself, very honestly…
Do I notice even a little more space in my reactions now?
Do I feel things..… but not get completely lost in them like before?
Am I a little less harsh on myself than I used to be?
If yes…
Then something has already begun.
Even if you don’t fully understand it yet.
This Is Not the End of Healing
This is the beginning of a different way of living.
Not from fear… but from awareness.
Not from habit… but from presence.
And slowly….. very naturally…..
Your outer life will start reflecting this inner shift.
And trust me on this..…
This path is not about becoming someone else.
It is about finally..… coming home to yourself.
